Restricted Casinos in Andorra
Andorra came closer to regulated online casinos and gambling. The final version of the bill, which will allow 85000 citizens of a small country to play in an online casino was released by the legislative Committee. The following year the government will hold a vote. If the bill is passed, residents of Andorra will expect new laws governing not only online, but also ordinary gambling.
At the moment land-based casinos and online gambling are banned in this small country in South West Europe. If the law passes, at least one casino will open next year. Basic income is expected not from a small population, but from the 10 million tourists who visit Andorra every year. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Andorra, Antoni Riberaygua explained: “The adoption of this law will contribute to the creation and growth of the sector of the economy that will be attractive to visitors of the country.”
Riberaygua also noted that it will take all possible measures to neutralize the negative impact of gambling on the population and tourists. The new casino will not be the only attraction of the country. People will visit Andorra to admire the mountain scenery, skiing and eat at local restaurants.
A bill to legalize online gambling will be also put to a vote next year. If it is adopted, poker will be officially a game of skill.
