Aristocrat Expands Its Social Gaming Division
Aristocrat spends nice money to take a bigger share of social gaming market. A lot of major casino games suppliers today pay attention to this segment, and Aristocrat decided to take the lead while others hesitate.
The company acquired two social gaming developers within several months. First was Plarium Global Limited, they got for $500 million, and earlier this month Aristocrat completed $900 million deal to take over Big Fish Games.
Thanks to the recent acquisitions, the company became second largest supplier of social gaming content. The main competitor and currently the biggest player in this market is Playtika. It was purchased for $110 million by Caesars Entertainment Corp, which heavily invested in its development, and then sold to Chinese investors for $4.4 billion.
Experts consider Aristocrat’s investments will eventually pay off despite shareholders’ concerns. The thing is, Big Fish Games hasn’t performed well lately. But the company hopes after some optimization Big Fish Games will do a lot better and therefore thinks of it as a valuable asset.
Big Fish Games has developed some of the most popular games more than 10 million players access every month. These are all games played for free on PCs and mobile devices. The developer provides wide range of social games, including casino, arcade, puzzles, card and board, etc.
